Service Description
In this creative art class the students will learn about 4 to 5 different artists per semester, their unique style of art, their mediums and how they approached art in a new way. Students will make projects that simulate these famous pieces, then create their own interpretation of that style. They will learn about the lives of these well-known (and some not-so-well-known) artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Franz Marc, Piet Mondrian, Paul Klee, Monet, Beatrix Potter and more. Students will be introduced to charcoal, modeling clay, oil paint, acrylic, pastels, watercolors and other materials. Learning about these artists’ journeys which often started from a young age will encourage your student to explore their own distinctive art style without fear. They will be given a matted frame at the end of the semester to display their favorite completed piece. This class promotes Visual Arts State Standards which include role development of visual arts, aesthetic valuing, and skills, processes, materials & tools demonstration. This class is designed to change every semester so that students can take this course for 3 years without a specific artist being repeated.
